Finally Facing my Photo + Video Hoarder Situation [Vol.41, No.02]

Sometimes the thing you’ve been avoiding isn’t actually the problem. The problem is who you’ll have to become once you finally decide to deal with it.

This week, I thought I was simply organizing photos and video for these Vol.40 Debriefs. I didn’t expect it to get so deep so fast, but I’m glad it did. It forced me to confront the habits I’d been avoiding for years (being a photo + video hoarder) and ask myself a much bigger question:

I know I’m capable and I know what I want… but am I actually willing to do what it takes?

That question isn’t just about content creation or business. It’s the same question every meaningful body transformation eventually asks us.

Every episode follows the W.H.I. Framework (Win, Hell No, Insight). It’s a simple way to pause at the end of the week, celebrate what’s working, intentionally leave behind what isn’t, and extract the lessons that will help you move forward with more clarity. Rather than letting another week happen to us, this is an opportunity to reflect on it and decide how we want to show up for the next one.

What You’ll Learn

After reading (or watching!) the Weekly Edit, you’ll understand:

  • Why meaningful transformation often feels harder before it gets easier
  • How to recognize when you’re stuck in research mode instead of taking action
  • Why the “Valley of Despair” is where most people quit, and how to move through it
  • How perfectionism can quietly disguise itself as productivity
  • Why collecting more information isn’t always the answer
  • Why your systems, not your motivation, determine your long-term success

🏆 Win: I finally stopped avoiding one of the biggest stressors in my life.

For years, I’ve been a photo and video hoarder. I love documenting life, but I rarely took the time to organize it or build a system around it. Now that I’m committed to creating these weekly episodes and documenting the journey of growing Miles.Muscles.Magic, I don’t have the option of putting it off anymore.

The biggest win wasn’t organizing files and creating workflows, it was choosing messy action over perfect planning. Instead of spending weeks researching the “best” workflow, I started building one and we got it out there! It isn’t perfect, but it’s moving, and that’s exactly what I needed.

🚫 Hell No: I’m intentionally leaving behind the belief that I need to have everything figured out before I begin.

That mindset has kept me stuck more times than I’d like to admit. It looks productive because you’re researching, planning, and preparing, but eventually preparation becomes another way of avoiding the work.

I’m also leaving behind the question, “Is this too much?” The reality is that I will definitely be “too much”, for some people. That’s okay. Honestly, I feel like I’m too much for myself sometimes. And that’s okay too.

I’m not building this for everyone. I’m building it for the people who connect with the way I coach and the way I choose to show up.

💡 Insight: The biggest realization was observing myself move through the five emotional stages of change, in one week!

I started Vol.41 with excitement and optimism. It originally started as a written newsletter (Vol.40, when I turned 40), but this version? It’s a whole different monster. Vol.41 is a video, blog post and social media posts, it requires so much more.

And I’m okay with that because it’s part of what I’m building, but still, a few moments after publishing the first episode, the reality set in.

I realized how much work these systems would actually require, and I got dangerously close to talking myself out of it.

That uncomfortable middle, the Valley of Despair, is where so many goals quietly end. But that’s also where transformation begins.

Whether you’re organizing your life, growing a business, or trying to lose weight and transform your body, there comes a point where the question isn’t “Do I know what to do?”

It’s “Am I willing to keep going now that I know what it’ll take?”

Most people already know the basics. They know they should eat quality food, strength train, sleep more, and stay off screens as much as possible, right? The challenge isn’t a lack of information. It’s becoming the kind of person who’s willing to keep showing up after the excitement fades.

That’s the work.
