I had no idea what I was doing. For years, I fumbled my way through different diets and workout plans while never getting the results I really wanted (ie. to be skinny. My goals have changed immensely since then but at the time, it mattered to me).
While at a bookstore one evening, I found a book that had the word ‘SKINNY’ printed across the front. I bought it immediately and I stayed up all night reading it from cover to cover.
As it turns out that book was all about Veganism, something I didn’t even know existed. The next morning, I got rid of every animal product in our house and declared that I was Vegan. That day was over 15 years ago and it’s one of my proudest moments! And in case you were wondering if it’s possible to be healthy, fit and strong while on a plant-based diet, the answer is HECK YES.
Since going plant-based, I’ve completed 7 full marathons (26.2 miles), 7 half-marathons (13.1 miles), two bodybuilding prep seasons and I’ve taught hundreds of group fitness and hot yoga classes.
After years of teaching group fitness “only for fun” while I worked full-time or started other businesses I decided it was time for me to practice what I preach and OWN MY POWER.
I created MILES. MUSCLES. MAGIC.™: an Online Run Club, to empower people of all fitness levels to use movement as a celebration. Every month we take on a new challenge focused on of my favorite fitness modalities (and sometimes all three!): running, strength or mobility.
